Our crew of volunteers...

...just after they finished laying track and erecting signs in memory of the of the closing of Kearsarge station (1955) and removal of its tracks (1960 - 50th anniversary).



These are the guys who'll restore #18. Dave Mull, President of Carson & Colorado, is sporting the black top hat. Randy Babcock, standing on the newly laid track and wearing a black hat, will supervise the work.

Randy and his friends devoted a lot of time and effort to a detailed inspection of the locomotive and plan of action. Please read it carefully

Restoration Assessment for Southern Pacific #18

Introduction

At the request of the Carson and Colorado Railway Society an extensive assessment was performed on Southern Pacific narrow gauge locomotive #18 to determine the feasibility and viability of continuing the restoration to return the locomotive to operational condition. The physical assessment was performed on September 28 and 29, 2009, by Bill Palmer, Randy Babcock, and Mike Arciniega at Dehy Park in Independence, CA.
